Life gets real exciting for me at this time of year. It all starts with the annual family reunion that I attended last week. This weekend is International Quilt Market at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston. I’m fortunate to be living close to Houston so I can attend every year. Actually, some of my fellow quilting business owners and I stay in the hotel that is attached to the convention center which is even more convenient. Market is fun in a completely different way than the International Quilt Festival coming up next week at the same location. Market is for business owners to meet with the various fabric and notions representatives to order fabrics and see what is new in the quilting world. As a serious business owner, it’s important for me to attend and to keep up with the trends. I enjoy choosing new fabrics to keep on hand for my T-shirt quilt customers. I keep a good variety of tone-on-tone fabrics to use in T-shirt quilts. Tone-on-tone fabrics have subtle designs in them with various shades of a single color and are more interesting than a plain solid colored fabric. So to Market, to Market I go. I’ll take some pictures so you can see just how big the quilting industry is.
