As mentioned in my previous blog, my quilt bee made a trip to Massachusetts to spend a few days with our bee member who had moved there about ten years ago. Our hostess Terri and her wonderfully welcoming husband live on a private lake and we enjoyed the beautiful view all week and got to take a boat ride on the lake one evening. But we spent our days shop hopping. Massachusetts is a beautiful state so we enjoyed the scenery as we visited quilt shops in some of the many little towns in the area. The first quilt shop we visited was Charlton Sewing Center and we thought we had died and gone to heaven. Well, it was sort of like that. The shop is in a church that is over one hundred years old. It has beautiful stained glass windows and an amazing pipe organ. The owner of the shop played the organ and sang for us while we shopped. Then she let our bee member Shirley play the organ. What a thrill that was for her. It was definitely a once in a lifetime experience. And of course we all bought fabric and just enjoyed the music and the atmosphere. I would have to say it’s the most memorable quilt shop I have ever been in and it’s worth a trip to Charlton, Massachusetts, if you ever get up that way.
