If you’re going to San Francisco, be sure to visit some quilt shops there. If you’re old enough, you can put that sentence in a familiar tune. My husband and I just got back from a week-long visit to the San Francisco area with our best friends of over forty years. Fortunately, my friend Jody loves quilting as much as I do and the guys always humor us and don’t mind taking us to quilt shops. We visited a total of five and I didn’t remember to take pictures until the last one we visited. However, they were all worth visiting, so I’m going to mention them and give you links to their websites. We visited Stone Mountain and Daughter and New Pieces in Berkeley.  Bay Quilts is in Richmond and  Broadway Quilts is in Sonoma. The Nimble Thimble, which was the last  shop we visited, turned out to be my favorite because it was crammed full of fabrics, notions, pre-cuts, and gifts. The storefront itself didn’t look very big, but the quilt shop went back a long way. It was in Gilroy which was a little further from San Francisco, but we drove through there on our way to Monterrey.  We spent quite a bit of time in that shop and our husbands finally came looking for us.
